FORTY-FIRST FORTY DAY FAST
FOR THE TRUTH OF GOSPEL NONVIOLENCE
JULY 1-AUGUST 9
FAST FOOD: Thirty-Fourth Helping
Jesus calls us to die to our reliance on the power of violence and to focus on changing what people are rather than on changing what they do. We can only change what people are by calling forth from them a free response in conscience to truth, goodness and love. This is Jesus’ plan for saving the world. If we accept Jesus as Messiah, as Savior of the world, we are accepting powerlessness, that is, we are accepting to have no power but love.

“Nothing is better or more necessary than love.
God is pleased with nothing but love.
One act of pure love is more precious in the eyes of God
and of the soul, and more profitable to the Church,
than all the good works together,
though it may seem as nothing.”
– St. John of the Cross
