Truth that no one wants to hear, unwanted truth, makes for unwanted people. The Nonviolent Jesus of history and the Gospels proclaiming His Way of Nonviolent Love of friends and enemies is an unwanted person by His own Jewish people, He is an unwanted person in His own Church after AD 300 and He remains unwanted in most of Christianity as of today. The Nonviolent Jesus, then, is an unwanted God, an unwanted Messiah and an unwanted Savior. Indeed, I have had bishops and priests reflect that if they pushed the Nonviolent Jesus too hard in their Churches, the people would leave. Since such is the case, those Bishops, priests and lay persons who proclaim the Nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels and His Way of Nonviolent Love can expect to be as unwanted as their unwanted brother, the Nonviolent Jesus.
The Jesus who is Divine is wanted. The Jesus who forgives sins is wanted. The Jesus who works miracles is wanted. The Jesus who heals the sick is wanted. The Jesus who saves from eternal destruction is wanted. The Jesus who rises from the dead is wanted. But, the Jesus of the Gospels, the historical Jesus, who is Nonviolent and who teaches by word and deed a Way of Nonviolent Love of friends and enemies for His disciples to follow, is not wanted.
He is clearly not wanted by the Constantinian Churches of Christianity that represent about 98% of the Christian Churches. He is always and forever persona non grata and positively disinvited to all Constantinian events from the Eucharist to Ecumenical Councils. Yet, all of the ‘wanted’ Jesuses, i.e., the Jesus who is Divine, the Jesus who saves, the Jesus who heals etc. are and must be in fact the Nonviolent Jesus of history and the Gospels. The Jesus of history and the Jesus of faith is and must be one, must be one and the same person.
According to the doctrines of the Catholic Church and according to the Gospels, there can be no separation. It is the historical Jesus of the Gospels and history who lives and teaches a Way of Nonviolent Love who is Divine, who forgives sin, who heals, who works miracles, who saves from death, who rises from the dead. There is no other Jesus who is Divine, forgives, heals, works miracles, saves and rises from the dead—no other!
The Nonviolent Jesus is unwanted at any and all Constantinian Church functions He is not explicitly mentioned even at the Mass where the Liturgy of the Eucharist is all about the Nonviolent Jesus incarnating His Way of Nonviolent love of friends and enemies unto His own death. He is not mentioned even when the Church is at prayer because He always brings with His mere presence an unwanted truth, which the Constantinian Churches work like the devil to keep as far out of the explicit consciousness of their leadership and membership as they are able. The unwanted truth that cannot speak its name in these Churches, or is only permitted to speak its name in a broom closet in the basement, is that these Churches are living, propagating and witnessing to a lie regarding Jesus and the Way of Jesus, when they teach that participation by a Christian in war, capital punishment or abortion is in conformity with the saving teachings of Jesus and the saving will of the Father, which is to be done by the Christian “on earth as it is in heaven.” This unwanted truth, regardless of who brings it to any segment of a Constantinian Church, whether it be a Christian scholar of world renown or a Christian street person, automatically makes the bearer of it as unwanted as the message itself. If you don’t want the message, you don’t want the person proclaiming the message…True or False? In the Gospels, you can’t have one without the other…True or False? Jesus’ message and His person are one…True or False.
