For the Christian who refuses to follow Jesus’ teaching by word and deed of Nonviolent Love of all at all times, the issue is not the clarity of Jesus’ teaching in the Gospels. His total rejection of violence and His proclamation of love of enemies are as straightforward, unambiguous, understandable and as self-evidently obvious as anything communicated in the Gospels about the Jesus of history and the Christ of faith and His Way. The issue for those Christians of every rank in the Church who refuse to follow and proclaim the Way of the Nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels is not a question of what He taught. It is, “Does Jesus exist right now?“
