FORTY-FIRST FORTY DAY FAST
FOR THE TRUTH OF GOSPEL NONVIOLENCE
JULY 1-AUGUST 9
FAST FOOD, Seventh Helping
Many people in the Church still accept the assumption that force is a way to bring about good and that killing human persons is a legitimate and even Christian way to bring about justice and peace.
The real reason why we cannot accept Jesus’ way of saving the world through love is just that we do not have enough faith. We don’t really believe that love can convert the world; we put more faith in violence than in fidelity to the Gospel.

“Nothing is better or more necessary than love.
God is pleased with nothing but love.
One act of pure love is more precious in the eyes of God
and of the soul, and more profitable to the Church,
than all the good works together,
though it may seem as nothing.”
– St. John of the Cross
