FAST FOOD AD 2026, Twenty-Fourth Helping

It is most sorrowful to see, or should be, Catholic boys and girls, men in women, in the U.S. military jumping up like non-human remote-controlled automatons to kill and main innocent women, children and men in Iran every time Donald Trump gets the urge  to kill and maim some more people in Iran. More sorrowful still is behavior of the Catholic military priests who are chaplains who are supposed to be on the Navy’s aircraft carriers or at the Air Force’s land bases to lead the Catholic boys and girls and men and women there into a more faithful following of Jesus. At this moment they are erroneously conceiving they are doing this by being holy cheerleaders for these Catholic men and women, boys and girls going on the continual sporadic U.S. murder missions against the people of Iran, including Iranian Catholics.

I say “murder missions” because there is no moral standard or norm in the Catholic Church whereby going into Iran today and killing people is considered in conformity with the Gospels or even with the Church’s minimalist moral teaching on the subject of war. The war on Iran is just the outright evil of murder by every Catholic standard. It is an intrinsically grave evil for which no dispensation is ever available under any circumstances.

Yet, the Catholic Navy and Air Force priests-chaplains are not informing their military flocks of Christ’s sheep that according to their Catholic faith and the highest moral authorities for them in their Catholic faith, the Archbishop of their U.S. Military Diocese, the Pope and Jesus Himself, the war on Iran is unjust and is therefore murder, the unjustified killing of innocent human beings.

Priests in the Catholic Church are ordained to form a Catholic’s conscience correctly. This is what a priest is supposed to do as a priest, whether he be in a local small town parish or in the military chaplaincy. Not telling someone who is walking out the door to murder a person that what he or she is planning is murder is being an accessory before the fact to murder. It is also a radical dereliction of one’s priestly obligations.

I have not heard, as of today, of a single Catholic priest-military chaplain who has publicly informed his congregation that this war by the United States’ political, military and economic elite on the Iranian people is contrary to the Gospels, does not meet the standards of the Catholic just war theory and has been declared the unjustified destruction of human beings by the  three people, mentioned above, who have ultimate ecclesiastical, spiritual and moral authority to oversee the formation of the consciences of military personnel in the Catholic Church. Why not?

For a Catholic priest-military chaplain, or two or ten, not to say anything to his people who are engaged in the mass murder of Iranians that it is murder, may be humanly understandable. But, for the whole cadre of Catholic military chaplains to be on mute in this eternally grave matter is evidence of grotesque immoral collusion between the U.S government and its military, and the Catholic Church and its episcopal leadership. Evidence of the same type of collusion was made visible by 18 years of total silence on the murder and maiming of millions of innocent human beings by the U.S. Military during the war on Iraq and Afghanistan that began on the Feast Day of St. Joseph, March 19, 2003.

I am certain that all of these priest-military chaplains have given sermons to their congregation and public talks that make it clear that in the Catholic Church adultery is an intrinsically grave evil and that anyone who engages in it has committed a mortal sin. I would also bet a large amount of money that they all have also given many public speeches and sermons on the fact that a woman who procures an abortion commits an intrinsically grave evil, the mortal sin of unjustifiable killing of an innocent human being, which is murder by Catholic Church standards. So why the silence by Catholic priest-military chaplains on the mass murder of innocent human beings in Iran? Why the silence by exactly the Catholic military chaplains who are supposed to be guiding these military boys and girls, men and women into living the truth of God revealed by Jesus Christ?

The gag order to Catholic military chaplains to “keep your mouths shut,” has to come from the top, the same top that muted itself for 18 years as U.S. Catholics by the tens of thousands brought hate, misery and death to Iraqi and Afghan women, children and men, which the U.S Empire builders named “the enemy,” instead of bringing with the help of their Bishops to the designated enemies, that love that Jesus brought to His enemies—as some U.S. Christian communities and people tried to do during these same 18 years.

About Us

The full embracing of Gospel Nonviolence calls for a radical alteration in thought patterns, verbal patterns, behavioral patterns, and emotional patterns. That is, it requires a completely different reality orientation and self-understanding.
