FAST FOOD AD 2026, Fourteenth Helping
As a Catholic and as a human being I would like to think that taking all steps available to stop the large scale murdering of innocent men, women and children in Iran by Catholics in the U.S. Military would be at least as grave a matter as not adhering to a humanly created protocol for the ordination of a Bishop, which was not even mandated and universalized in the Catholic Church until the 1917 Code of Canon Law. But it does not seem that is the case in the Catholic Church. A Catholic consecrated a Bishop without the Pope’s consent incurs excommunication. Yet, Catholics killing hundreds or thousands of innocent people from B-52 bombers over Iran remain members of the Catholic Church in good standing, welcomed to receive Holy Communion at any time. This is not a dark comedy fictional scenario. This is what is taking place daily in the Catholic Church and in Iran with only a whisper of protest, even though Cardinals and Bishops and the Pope have publicly said the present war in Iran is unjust, which morally means the killing taking place in it, whether by sea, air or land, is mass murder.
This is Catholic and Christian moral theology and pastoral leadership that is not worth its weight in Monopoly money. It is a phony and pusillanimous interpretation and application of Jesus, His Teaching, His Way and His Truth. No one, inside or outside Christianity, should afford it a scintilla of credence. It is just a cadre of politicized Catholic Bishops speaking out and shutting up as they think institutional Church survival requires. They chronically “forget,” to the grave detriment of Christianity and all humanity, that the Church survives, not because of clever administration, wealth or by playing “patty-cake” with the operations of the diabolical in history, but for one reason only, the Risen Jesus, the Christ, guarantees it survival.
Bishops are misinterpreting their ministry when it is absorbed in furthering the earthly survival of the Church. Their Divinely commissioned task is to Baptize and to teach the Baptized by their words, deeds and example all that Jesus commanded them to teach when He walked on earth as they are doing at this moment. Church survival in AD 2026 is God’s business as it was God’s business during the Roman government’s efforts to liquidate it in the first three centuries of its existence. Your business, Bishops, is fidelity to the Great Commission given to you in His very last words on earth, Matthew 28:16-20.
