FAST FOOD AD 2026, Thirteenth Helping
The self-deceiver is one who resolutely refuses to look at his beliefs because he knows very well that he won’t see what he wants to see.
Christianity is first and foremost an incarnational faith and religion. The presupposition of an incarnational faith and religion is that the truth exists to be lived. In Christianity God becomes human, incarnate as a human being, to do just that, to reveal absolute truth to humanity and how to live it. “Do” is the most used verb by Jesus in the Gospels. He even ties the worth of worship to it: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Mt 7:21).
Stripped of all its romantic, erotic euphemistic and deceptive language, war is the settling of conflict between groups by the prosecution of mass suffering, misery, torture and human slaughter. Acts and activities that cannot possibly be rationally interpreted as compatible with the acts and activities of Jesus in the Gospels are the ordinary daily acts and activities of war.
Every group, however, always designates its own wars as legal, necessary and moral by some standard or another. It is brain numbing and heart breaking to observe and try to fathom how almost a billion and a half people who designated themselves as faithful followers of Jesus, can live in spiritual and moral confidence that they are faithful followers to Jesus while engaging in the prosecution of the mass suffering, misery, torture and human slaughter called war.
TRUE OR FALSE?
Jesus made it clear in the Gospels that those He chose to be His disciples and followers could depart from following and obeying His teaching, e.g., love of enemies or rejection of violence, when it was found to be inconsistent with so-called with some human interpretation of natural law standards, or harder to live than natural law standards or just inconvenient or embarrassing to live in a particular social environment, e.g. a business office, a Christian parish, a political party, a family, a school, a pub, etc.? Is this true or false?
If your answer is “False” why is the Church, its leaders and members, of which you are a member chronically choosing to exist as if the answer were, “True?”
If your answer is “True,” I would like to be informed of the chapter and verse in the Gospels where Jesus gives this carte blanche dispensation to follow the tenets of some interpretation of natural law as an alternative to explicit teachings of His regarding the Way of the salvific will of our Father in heaven?
The self-deceiver is one who resolutely refuses to look at his beliefs because he knows very well that he won’t see what he wants to see.
