So instead of giving a Lamborghini, a Starbucks’ gift certificate, or a toy M16 for a Christmas present, perhaps, a better present would be to give the gift of ourselves as a magnifying glass to others, as a magnifying presence of Christ for others. For what purpose: To help people see more easily and clearly what has become nearly invisible within the night and fog, the glittering tinsel and the shimmering simulacra of state and culture: namely, to see the Everlasting Light now with us, in order that they may take light from that Light and, trusting, follow along, in Him, the Way to that for which humanity longs—the Peace announced by the angels on the night when Christ-God, the Savior of humanity, was born.
