FAST FOR THE TRUTH OF
GOSPEL NONVIOLENCE

FAST FOOD AD 2025: Thirty-Second Helping
Gospel Nonviolent love, that is, the Nonviolent Love of friends and enemies as taught by word and lived in deed by Jesus in the Gospels, is not only the refusal to call in violence on an enemy, even a lethal enemy, but is also the choice to love him or her as Jesus loves him or her now and has loved him or her since they were in their mother’s womb. As I have said in other places, the word nonviolent in the context of Jesus and His teaching is an adjective or an adverb indicating a quality of the love (agape) that is “as I (Jesus) have loved.” The same would be true of the word non-adulterous before love. The word non-adulterous would convey a necessary quality of love if it is to be Christlike Love. Jesus’ new commandment, “Love one another as I have loved you” is the content of Christlike love. So, when Jesus in the Gospels rejects violence and enmity and adultery as morally contrary to the Will of His Father in heaven—which He has come to do—then for an act to be an act of Christlike love, it also would have to reject violence, enmity and adultery. For institutional Church officers to change a Church Law is one thing, e.g., “You cannot eat meat on Friday or else you will commit a mortal sin and go to hell, if you do not repent with a sacramental confession to a priest,” to “You can eat meat on Friday without commiting a sin,” However, to change Jesus’ infallible teaching on the unchangeable Eternal Will of God explicitly revealed in word and deed by Him who is God Incarnate, should be to.every Christian conscience a step too far, a step self-evidently forbidden for any creature to dare take, if he or she believes they have had the imperative Will of their Creator communicated to them by their Savior and God’s Only Begotten Son, Jesus..
Is the Revelation of God’s unchanging Holy Will by Jesus authentic Revelation, or isn’t it? It cannot be both authentic and inauthentic. If I don’t like what it may cost me to follow a genuine Revelation by Jesus of His Father’s Eternally Holy Will, does Jesus’ teaching tell me or morally permit me, a creature, to alter His Revelation in order to make it more comfortable, less burdensome and more in line with the logic and thoughts of some logical human philosophies? This is a life and death question, a radical problem whether recognised or not, for anyone who professes, “Jesus is my Lord, God and Savior,” “Jesus, I trust in you.” And, it is certainly a dreadful issue and a dire radical spiritual pitfall for anyone who professes, “Jesus is my Lord, God and Savior,” “Jesus, I trust in you,” and simultaneously teaches others that some human philosophy or another, which maintains that violence, enmity and adultery is a morally permissible corrective addendum to the Eternal Will of the Father as revealed by Jesus in the Gospels.
Is the Way of atonement (at-one-ment with God) after all the evil that I and all humanity have chosen across the millennia, something that can be figured out by philosophy? Is the Way to eternal salvation, to eternal communion with God, for one and for all sinful and concupiscence riddled unique persons even open to discerning via philosophy? If the answer to both of these questions is, “No,” then what are Christians, Churches and Church leaders doing, e.g. in Christian just war theories, altering Jesus’, the Word of God Incarnate, Revelation on the Way to eternal life and eternal communion with God by a thought process, i.e., philosophy, that can knowing nothing and does know nothing about the Way to save a soul, let alone the Way to save the souls of all people who have ever lived or will live?
